Meet the Staff

Shanna Rockenbach
Shanna has been with KANA as the Wellness Center Supervisor and Emergency Medical Training Coordinator since 2018. Shanna is dedicated to making sure your experience at the Wellness Center is one of the most enjoyable possible. She is always available to answer questions or lend an ear to hear how her team can improve or is knocking it out of the park! In addition to her role as facility supervisor, Shanna also works to provide ongoing training for first responders and emergency care professionals within the city of Kodiak and the surrounding villages.

Shanna grew up in Kodiak and has immense respect and love for its culture and community. After graduating from Kodiak High School, Shanna attended Western Washington University receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. Before returning to Kodiak, she traveled to Southern California where she owned a thriving sign construction and design company for 11 years.
While in California she found a passion for CrossFit. Shanna is a Level 2 CrossFit trainer and is currently working on her Level 3 certification along with a Sports and Exercise Nutrition Certification. She is also an Emergency Trauma Technician and Basic Life Support Instructor.
In her spare time, you will find her coaching at CrossFit Kodiak Island, the affiliate she owns with her husband Tim, or practicing Olympic lifting. When the sun decides to peek out, she is most likely exploring the never-ending trails on our beautiful island.

Ashley Rivera
Ashley started her KANA career in the Medical Department as Care Team SRS (Scheduling and Registration Specialist) before transitioning to the Wellness Center Office Specialist position in October 2022. Her bubbly and encouraging personality is sure to brighten anyone's day. Should you need help registering for a class or making an appointment for a supervised exercise visit, Ashley possesses the skills to quickly and efficiently get you taken care of.
As a lifetime Kodiak resident and graduate of Kodiak High School, Ashley sees herself pursuing a Personal Trainer certification in the future. For now, you can tap into her multi-year weightlifting experience and general gym use knowledge.

When she is not pushing around weights in the gym, you can find her enjoying time with her boyfriend and family. As a primarily left-handed person, she considers herself ambidextrous putting her in just 1% of the population of the world and once you get to know her, you will certainly agree the other 99% is awesome as well.

Eldon Macaraig
Eldon has been with the WC team since October last year serving as the primary facility-opening Wellness Center Attendant. He enthusiastically shares his weightlifting background and customer service experience to ensure your visit is one of the most enjoyable.
Eldon has been a Kodiak resident for the last 24 years. After graduating from Kodiak High School, he earned his Associate of Applied Science in General Business from UAA – Kodiak Community College. Currently, Eldon is working towards his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. During his free time, you will find him active on the basketball court and weightlifting. To relax he enjoys a well-written book or TV series.

Eldon may be allergic to pretty much everything, but difficult work isn’t one of them! Maybe that’s why solving a Rubik's cube poses no challenge.

Hana Reyes
Hana began assisting patrons and teaching group fitness classes in April 2022 as one of the Wellness Center Exercise Specialists. She willingly shares her love of exercise and movement with everyone she encounters. Hana brings with her a 200-hour yoga certification and is currently pursuing her NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer credential.
Before moving to Kodiak, Hana grew up in Bowie a suburb in Maryland between Annapolis and Washington DC. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy. Before joining the KANA family, she most recently worked as a Marine Debris Program Coordinator here in Kodiak.

Whether rain or shine, Hana loves being outside and exploring this beautiful island. When the weather is just too frightful, she is bound to be hanging out with family and friends. However, fear is not a factor for her. At the wee age of 12 years old Hana became SCUBA certified!

Marck Abellera
Marck joined the WC team in May of 2022 as the evening and Saturday Wellness Center Attendant. He is a welcoming smile when you walk in the door and is available to assist with lifting techniques and any equipment instruction. On Saturdays, Marck leads the 9 AM Weekend Warrior Fitness Class.
Marck spent his early life in the Philippines and moved to Kodiak when he was 13. He is a graduate of Kodiak High School and works during the day for KIBSD in the Finance Department. In his free time, when he is not at the gym, he works out in it. Marck plans on returning to school once he identifies the right career path.
If you ever want to talk trucks, Marck is your guy… from modifications, and their stylish looks to how they drive!

Natasha Kutchick
Natasha is the newest Wellness Center team member filling the Exercise Specialist position. She may have just started this January but she is no newbie to fitness or leading exercise classes. Natasha has an impressive teaching background in TRX, Circuit, Weight Training, and Indoor Cycling. To keep herself fit she has been an active participant in CrossFit for the last 9 years.
Natasha has deep roots in the Kodiak community having grown up on Kodiak Island. Post-graduation from Kodiak High School, Natasha attended The Academy of Business College in Phoenix Arizona, and The Travel Academy in Anchorage Alaska. The love of all things health and wellness inspired her to become a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Personal Trainer certified by NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine).

Being active is a top priority for Natasha and most of her free time you will find her trekking up a mountain, running, bowling, or playing basketball. However, her heart is at its fullest when she gets to hang out with friends, family, and her three grown children (17, 21, & 23).

John Saliva
John joined the WC team as a mid-day and evening Wellness Center Attendant in October of last year. John’s positive demeanor is backed by extensive knowledge of powerlifting and general gym basics that can help you reach your personal goals.
He was born and raised here in Kodiak and graduated from Kodiak High School. Shortly after graduation, John started taking college courses to explore the nursing program at UAA – Kodiak Community College. He is also interested in plumbing as a possible career choice. During his free time, you will find him hanging out with his girlfriend and family or putting in some hard work at the gym.

When you have a chance make sure to congratulate him on his recent top 30 in the world, age, and weight rankings in powerlifting.
