Explore the Rock
KANA Prevention's virtual summer hiking challenge, Explore the Rock (ETR) is back for summer 2022! This hiking challenge is designed to get families out on the trails hiking together. ETR is for Kodiak youth entering grades 3 through 12 in the 2022-2023 school year. There is no deadline for registration, but participants must submit a completed registration form before beginning to complete hikes to be eligible for prizes and ETR gear. The 2022 program runs from June 6th through August 18th.
This year there is no weekly time limit for individual hikes. Participants will receive credit for all hikes that are completed, with proof submitted, between June 6 and August 18.
Participants must submit proof through the ETR form. You will need to submit a form for each participant and each hike. The form does not allow for more than one name with each submission. Proof can include AllTrails/ route recordings, photos of participants on the trail, and/or photos of found caches.
We still welcome sharing on Facebook; however, posting to Facebook will no longer count as credit. Tag your photos #HealthyKodiak #ETR2022
This year participants will need to complete a couple of hikes before receiving their ETR gear. Once participants complete two (2) hikes, they will receive an ETR shirt, a geocaching starter kit, and either a hydration backpack or a set of hiking poles.
After completing four (4) hikes, families will receive a gift subscription to the AllTrails Pro. Limit one subscription per family.
Gear distribution details TBD.
